Two distinct films release this weekend – Force 2, which is an out and out action thriller and Tum Bin 2, which is a romantic musical. For audiences who have been craving for some good entertainment, it is expected that these two films would give them something to lay their eyes on.
Both films have seen controlled promotion going for them and the marketing hasn’t gone out of the way to create the kind of hype that makes them the most awaited affairs. However, in the times when even huge spends on marketing haven’t quite resulted in the most fruitful of box office results, it makes sense to let audience take the final call when it comes to footfalls in the opening weekend.
All of this means that the makers would be looking at a fair start for their films and then allow word of mouth to do the trick. Let’s talk about Force 2 first. The film gains from the star presence of John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha which helps in the visibility factor. Their last solo films, Rocky Handsome and Akira, didn’t quite set the Box Office on fire though. That said, producer Vipul Shah and director Abhinay Deo have seemingly come with a slick affair that promises a good big screen watch. Force had opened to Rs. 5 crore and now Force 2 is expected to top that at the least.
Tum Bin 2 has Neha Sharma as the most recognized face. As for the director, Anubhav Sinha made one of the costliest and glossiest ever films, Ra.One and he is now returning to his roots with this romantic musical. Yet again, the focus is on songs and T-Series has made sure that these play round the clock. The film should open better than Tum Bin and just like that film had managed to keep its hold against Aks with which it had clashed, Tum Bin 2 also has to turn out to be a beautiful emotional ride that helps it strike a chord with the audience.
