Box Office: Taapsee’s Naam Shabana touches 35.10 crore in two weeks

Taapsee Pannu‘s Naam Shabana enjoyed a reasonable hold in its second week as it netted Rs. 7.92 crore at the Box Office. Considering the fact that the film had seen some sort of a decline in the later part of the first week, a hold like this is fair as some added numbers have come in. All of this has also been possible due to the fact that the competition from the newer releases of the week was very poor, and due to that the Shivam Nair directed affair was the first choice of cine-goers.

The film has now netted Rs. 35.10 crore already. While this had seemed like the best case scenario for a lifetime total after the first week had ended at Rs. 27.18 crore, the fact that it has traveled so far in two weeks means whatever comes in from here is an added bonus. The film seems to be aiming for a lifetime of Rs. 37-38 crore now, though one waits to see if just like the second week there is some surprise in store in the third week too. Though in Hindi the competition is just about decent in the form of Vidya Balan‘s Begum Jaan, there is Fate and The Furious that is all set to see some very good numbers right through the week.

As for the new releases of last week, there has been no dent whatsoever at the Box Office. Baahubali – The Beginning hasn’t created any ripples on its re-release and its first week billing stands at Rs. 2.5 crore*. Now this number is less than 50% of what the film had collected [Rs. 5.15 crore] on the Day One of its original release. As for the other two releases of the week, Laaloo Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana and Mirza Juuliet, both have turned out to be one week affairs with collections staying below the 1 crore mark each. Disasters.
