Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Veere De Wedding is in news ever since it was announced. The movie will be produced by Sonam Kapoor’s sister Rhea Kapoor and will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
Earlier scheduled to go on floors last September, the film has literally been postponed for a year. Now, Rhea while talking to a news portal announced that the film will finally see the daylight in August.
“Yes, it’s going to go on floors in August and we would be shooting a little bit of it in May though, minimally, but Sonam is going to finish Padman and Dutt first,” said Rhea.
She further added “And of course Kareena, she has not really gone away. She just had a human being and now it’s going to be her time to get back to work and I am so excited. So August seems like the ideal time and we will finish it in one shot. It’s a 55-day film and it’s going to be great.”
The film was delayed as Kareena was busy with her new born Taimur while Sonam was shooting for Akshay Kumar starrer PadMan and Sanjay Dutt’s biopic.
Apart from Sonam and Kareena, Sonam’s BFF Swara Bhaskar will also be seen in the pivotal role.
The film recently was in news over the title controversy. Few months back, there were reports that the film’s title is similar to a Punjabi film Veerey Ki Wedding that stars Jimmy Sheirgill in the lead.
Sonam’s father Anil Kapoor had intervened in this issue and written the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA). Reportedly, Anil Kapoor had moved the court and asked intervention. He wanted the court to stop the makers from using the similar title, claiming that they were seeking mileage from it. The High Court later dismissed Anil’s claim and ruled in favour of Jimmy Sheirgill starrer.
